India Travel Diary

Indian cuisine, Indian culture and even the Indian language can change every 50 miles you travel. Having been to various places in India (UP, Bihar, MP, Karnataka, Andhra, Maharashtra, Jharkand, Tamil Nadu and Kerala) and had some incredible experiences, I created this Travel Diary (or rather traveller's diary) so that I could share with you some of those extraordinary sights and sounds I witnessed while travelling in India.

Introduction

My dear reader,

You might perhaps wonder why I'm giving an introduction; after all, this is meant to be a simple travel diary, isn't it? So where's the need for an introduction? Why not get on with it?

The answer is that this is not a conventional travel diary, because all my travels are on official work. Since audit is my specialisation, my profession takes me to different parts of India. It was only recently, on an outstation trip that I suddenly realised I could share some of my experiences with you, which is guess is by way of apology for the content. While I have attempted to give as much factual information as possible, the diary is descriptive rather than narrative, in that I have taken far greater pain in recording my impressions than in unearthing factual information. I am not a professional traveller and I have no more than attempted to describe some of the wonderful places I have visited and some of the extraordinary scenes I have been fortunate enough to witness in my spare time .

And I guess that will explain the unconventional form and content (plus most shortcomings) in the travel diary, which I think would be best described as a Traveller's diary . But this is not just my travel diary alone- anyone among you who has an experience to share or any further information to give is invited to mail me. I shall look forward to hearing from you.

Your Friend,

Ash.

Ashok, your travelogue makes for an interesting read. If the heat, dust and smells of the countryside were felt by me sitting here in Mumbai, then I guess your descriptive skills are unquestionably strong. I do mind the numerous typos, though.
Do write more- sometimes vicarious travelling is as good as the real thing and without the bother of delays and stalled trains.
Keep moving, mate!

Hi Ashok,

Although, I could not read the full diary...the one on Bihar makes a very interesting reading! Wonderfully described; language and choice of words are pretty apt! Certainly, an enjoyable and an intereting one!

I would think that it is descriptive because you're passionate about whatever you did/do.....and when this is the case, it is difficult to cut short our expressions and narrate. Am I right?

Hey Ashok, it was great you did it with office work.People tend to forget such tours on longer runs but things like this really help to go back to past... Great job.. keep it up.

Hi Ashok,

I happened to read the entire India Travel Diary today. Extremely well written, though at time too descriptive. Your passion for history and writing comes out crystal clear.
